Terms of Service

Terms and conditions for using the Retrace Sandbox platform.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the services provided by Retrace Labs Ltd ("Retrace", "we", "us", or "our"), including the Retrace Sandbox platform available at retrace.cloud (the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

  • "Account" means a registered user account on the Service.
  • "Organization" means a team or company workspace within the Service.
  • "Sample" means any file, URL, or artifact submitted to the Service for analysis.
  • "Analysis" means the automated or interactive examination of a Sample within our sandbox environment.
  • "Content" means analysis results, reports, events, screenshots, and any other data generated by the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding legal agreement to use the Service. By creating an Account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an Account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your Account.

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Use

The Service is designed for legitimate security research, malware analysis, incident response, and threat intelligence purposes. You may use the Service to:

  • Submit and analyze suspicious files, URLs, and artifacts
  • Review analysis results including behavioral data, network activity, and process information
  • Share analysis results with your Organization members
  • Access publicly shared analyses submitted by other users

4.2 Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit samples containing real personal data of individuals without their consent
  • Attempt to escape, bypass, or compromise the sandbox environment
  • Use analysis results to develop, improve, or deploy malware or other malicious software
  • Reverse-engineer or extract proprietary detection logic, signatures, or rules from the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the Service
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its Content without authorization
  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights

4.3 Rate Limits and Fair Use

We may impose rate limits, submission quotas, or other usage restrictions. Attempting to circumvent these limits may result in suspension or termination of your Account.

5. Samples and Content

5.1 Sample Submissions

By submitting a Sample to the Service, you represent that:

  • You have the right to submit the Sample for analysis
  • The submission does not violate any applicable law or regulation
  • You understand the Sample will be executed in a controlled sandbox environment

5.2 Public Submissions

If you mark an analysis as "public", the analysis results (including events, behavioral data, screenshots, and detection results) will be visible to all users of the Service. Public submissions do not expose your identity, organization, or account details.

5.3 Ownership

  • You retain ownership of any Samples you submit.
  • We retain ownership of the Service, its infrastructure, detection logic, and any proprietary analysis techniques.
  • Analysis Content generated by the Service (events, reports, detections) is licensed to you for your use in accordance with these Terms.

5.4 Data Retention

We retain analysis data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, algorithms, detection rules, documentation, and branding, is the intellectual property of Retrace Labs Ltd. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described herein.

7. API Access

If you access the Service via our API, the following additional terms apply:

  • API keys are confidential and must not be shared publicly.
  • You must not exceed documented rate limits.
  • We may revoke API access at any time for violations of these Terms.
  • Automated bulk submissions must comply with our fair use guidelines.

8. Payment and Billing

8.1 Free Tier

We may offer a free tier with limited functionality. Free tier access may be modified or discontinued at any time.

8.2 Paid Plans

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.

8.3 Changes to Pricing

We may change our pricing at any time. Changes to pricing for existing subscribers will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle, with at least 30 days' notice.

9. Availability and Support

  • We aim to provide high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service.
  • We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.
  • Support is provided according to your plan tier.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Analysis results will be complete, accurate, or comprehensive
  • The Service will detect all threats or malicious behavior
  • Samples will be fully contained within the sandbox environment

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RETRACE LABS LTD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Retrace Labs Ltd, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Samples you submit to the Service

13. Termination

  • You may terminate your Account at any time by contacting us.
  • We may suspend or terminate your Account at any time for violation of these Terms, with or without notice.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
  • Sections 5.3, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 15 survive termination.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
